What?

On our way to Ha Long Bay, we made a stop at Ninh Binh and had to make a stop at Tam Cốc. Our friend wanted to take us to see the caves. There were 5 of us on a boat and one single Vietnamese lady that rowed us. She was a very strong woman and a fast rower – we offered to help, but there were only small sections where she wanted our help. She was amazing in navigating through the caves; there were areas that were narrow, but she slid our boat right through it with ease. The only disappointing memory from that day was seeing a tourist throw a cigarette bud from their boat into the water.

Tam Cốc is located in the Northern region of Vietnam.

How?

There are many ways to travel to Ninh Binh. We took the train route to Ninh Binh from Nha Trang. The train was comfortable enough for all of us to fall asleep – but, we were so exhausted from traveling, we would have slept under almost any condition.
