Our first backpacking trip (i.e. carrying our own pack) and one of the toughest trek we’ve experienced. From Pine Ridge to Sykes Hot Spring was a strenuous 10 mile hike. The terrain consists of significant elevation gain and loss, along with some level paths. The trail is combined with shaded and exposed area, and half way to Sykes there is a creek with a lovely water fall where you can fill up for water and eat lunch.
Being inexperienced with packing we brought stuff that we didn’t need that made our hike A LOT tougher. Plan ahead and pack light!!
At the end of our hike we were rewarded with a beautiful creek surrounded with trees that gave the place a relaxing atmosphere. Although the water was a bit cold, I highly suggest dipping your feet in water as it helps rejuvenate your muscles after a long hike.
